MASS EFFECT 2 – Legion iPhone Ringtone
by deto on Jun.19, 2010, under Game HQ
As I was playing through ME2, and my geth companion, Legion says the following thing:
“We anticipate the exchange of data”
Instantly realising that this would be my new ringtone I searched through a huge pile of sound clips to find exactly that. With the help of audiko.net I compiled an iPhone ringtone.

Activision: Dichotomy of a douchebag
by deto on Sep.16, 2009, under Game HQ
If it was anyone else in the gaming industry I would have said we have been blessed listening to but when Bobby Kotick opens his mouth I can think of a variety of things I’d rather do or have… Diarrhea, gastric ulcer, ague, fever, … the list may be extended.
Activision: We hate PC Crusade

As if the price increase for european markets wasn’t enough Activision won’t bring the ‘Prestige’-Edition for Modern Warefare 2 to the PC. Once again the PC gamer gets the giant middle finger from yet another publisher.

MGS: ???
by deto on May.29, 2009, under Game HQ
Seems Kojima Production is coming up with another MGS, but the question is what is it going to be? XBOX Version, PC Version, PSP adaption, or even a totally new sequel – or rather prequel?
All we can see is numbers and letters and 2 faces – Big Boss & Cyborg Raiden

Duke goes to Court
by deto on May.24, 2009, under Game HQ
Back in Feb there was a little special about the waiting game of Duke Nukem Forever – Recently there was an interesting twist of events. Rumors said that 3D Realms was short of funds and had to shutdown operations as a whole. There was a big ‘Goodbye’ picture to be found on 3DRealms.com (most likely it is still there) – that only stirred up the discussions in the forums.
After a couple days of speculations and whatnot the head of 3DRealms finally answered the call of the community to comment on what was going on. But this only happened after court documents were spread all over the net which made clear that Take2 was npw sueing 3D Realms for not delivering a new Duke game.
The official hearing is on June 4th – and it seems that the papers were issued before 3D Realms had to let its dedevelopers go – however the statement was clearly that 3D Realms will keep operating as a company even though all developers were laid off. So far 20 millions were pumped into the development of Duke Nukem Forever and it is to be expected that somehow the work around DNF will continue. The restraint order was denied which Take 2 was requesting to prevent any potential data loss and have a current copy of the game and its status handed over. Thus 3DR would be free to work on the title if they can somehow get their hands on money to continue funding of the game.
In the official statement from 3D Realms, Take2 was accused of using ‘bully-tactics’ to aquire the IP (Intellectual Property) of Duke Nukem.
We’ll hear more once the hearing is over and something conclusive can be said – everything else is up for speculation.
Addiction-Factor
by deto on Mar.30, 2009, under Game HQ
So it has finally come to this… It is being demanded that the addiction-factor for MMOG’s/MMORPG’s is being measured. World of Warcraft and Warhammer Online as new age drug? Sounds pretty ridicilous to me but you know – politicians and self proclaimed game experts. There is only one question which I want to ask: “How do you measure an addiction factor of a videogame?”
Simply put; it is impossible. You can’t declare something to be addictive if you have no proof and no evidence that it actually is the case.
It is indeed very funny (in a sarcastic god-you’re-stupid way, not in a HAHA way) to me that in Europe you can obtain mild alcoholic beverages at the age of 16 while they are requesting to increase the age to be able to play MMOG’s to 18.
Why do we allow such people to talk even? How about taking care of the real problems instead of leading another crusade against the gaming nation? Easy target well thats a given but is the majority of people really so dumbed down to believe what so-called experts say?
On a sidenote: Why was the TV never considered addictive? How many hours to people spend infront of it? It is fully integrated into the media landscape – thats why no one takes that stand but bashing videogames is easy – gamers do not have a lobby. Maybe we should work together with National Gun Associations. I’m being overly sarcastic here but you know where I’m dragging this aren’t you?
Pope demands gaming abstinence
by deto on Mar.09, 2009, under Game HQ, Sanity
Yes indeed dear gaming fellows – The Pope or how I like to call him “The Imperator” demands that we include modern media into our fasting spree for the next 7 weeks. Honestly, the church can wait a very long time till I would just remotely consider that.
